Jessica - Owner & Head Barista
Jessica age 20 had worked for nearly two years in a local espresso shop. She has also trained with a Professional Barista and has trained her entire staff to be professional barista's. She has been a barista since she was 16 and has ran Surfside Espresso full time since she was 17.
She is so excellent at what she does and loves both the profession and customers so much that she started her own business when she was barely 17 years old! It is her passion and she is so at home behind the counter with a steam wand in one hand and a shot of espresso in the other!
She enjoys meeting customers, their children and pets. She loves to spoil the dogs (dogs know her by name) with treats and put whip cream on the straws for the kids! Jess is a young but responsible entrepreneur She is doing a great job! She has built a strong client base one person at a time. Quality and cleanliness are also important to Jessica. She has received 100% on every Public Health Dept. inspection she has had and she has had many!Ask to see our latest report, we are proud to show you. :)
Derek Co-owner & Pro Baristo
Derek is a Junior in High School. He is Jessica's younger brother. At only 17 years old he is a big asset to Surfside Espresso. He has worked at Surfside since he was 14.
He acts and appears to be much older than his age! Derek has a natural ability to make people smile, feel welcome and he is a great Barista. He plays Football, loves to Golf, Lift weights, Ride Bikes, Water Ski, Jet Ski, Body Surf and keep in shape. Derek is dedicated to physical fitness. He has an upbeat positive attitude and is much fun to be around. Derek is also a natural artist, he loves to sketch and draw and also loves to create computer graphics.
He takes his job seriously and makes great drinks. He loves his customers, their children and their pets, and looks forward to visiting with them. He truly enjoys working at Surfside Espresso.
Jude Hodge - Owner
Jude Hodge owns Surfside Espresso at the port of Brookings-Harbor. She has been published in Networking Times, Cutting Edge Media, Money, Makers Monthly, Networkers Advantage and is a contributing author in "Build it Big," a book published by Dearborn Publishing for Direct Selling Women's Alliance. She was also recently published in the August 2007 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.
Jude has always worked with the public and looks forward to seeing friends and family as well as meeting new people that stop in.
Dave Hodge - Co-Owner
Dave has lived in the Curry County area for nearly 40 years, he is well known and liked in the community as he owned Brookings Market and Gifts in downtown Brookings for 15 years. We sold the business in 2001 so he could follow his passion which is woodworking.
Dave has been a Cabinet Maker for over 26 years. And is currently employed by Rivers Edge Construction.

She was only with us at Surfside for a short time.
She passed away at only 17 years young after a long illness. She touched our lives in so many ways and the message we received from her was "live while you are living".
Sadly she is gone now but we will always remember her bubbly attitude, big smile and her strength. She was always full of hugs and a positive attitude and never complained. She was such a great girl!
We were fortunate to know her and we truly fell in love with this remarkable young woman.
She will never be forgotten and we are thankful she touched our hearts as she did.
Rest in Peace Beautiful Katelyn.
